Real black tea is compressed into a tea cake. It’s also named Pu’er. You need to take a piece of it to make your tea. It travelled by horse and camel through Asia on it’s way to Europe in this shape.
It has fermented in a cool place for a long time. Some of the tea cakes are quite old, close to a hundred years. There’s a lot of speculation and prices skyrocket for certain Pu’ers. I don’t sell them, yet, but I certainly will later on. This is the other tea you can use for a Gong Fu Cha ceremony.
What we usually drink as black tea in the West is, in reality, red tea in Asia. To simplify the understanding on this web site, we’ll call it black tea.
